Job summary

Wire 3 is seeking a Utility Locator 1 in Greenville, SC to locate and mark underground utilities before excavation or construction. The role focuses on safety, accuracy, and collaborating with construction crews and authorities to prevent service interruptions.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with GIS, and a valid driver’s license. Certification in utility locating is preferred or obtainable on hire. A DOT-compliant drug/alcohol program is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in utility locating or underground construction preferred.
• Certification in utility locating (e.g., NULCA, APWA) preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Familiarity with GIS technology a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; ability to pass DOT testing.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground utilities using advanced detection equipment.
• Interpret utility maps and construction plans for accurate locate work.
• Communicate with project stakeholders and authorities on utility locations.
• Coordinate with Field Supervisor and Construction Manager to schedule locates.
• Maintain records and locate tickets for compliance and reference.
• Follow safety protocols and company policies at all times.
• Handle locate tickets and respond to requests promptly.
• Identify discrepancies and report to management.
• Other duties as assigned.
