Qualifications

• Willingness to learn with instructor-led training to receive locator certification.
• Ability to drive local roads, work outdoors, and operate independently.
• Ability to perform locate duties on call after hours as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to access restricted areas and walk in varied terrains and weather.

Responsibilities

• Use mechanical/technical equipment to locate underground facilities.
• Communicate with managers, excavation crews, and homeowners about locate issues.
• Read maps/blueprints to ensure accurate utility locations.
• Determine efficient routes for locates in rural and urban areas.
• Remove and replace manhole lids.
