Job summary

TEKsystems c/o Allegis Group seeks a Field Utility Locator to read blueprints, mark underground utilities, and support safe excavation. The role travels between Ames and Des Moines locations, working in all weather with a company car provided.

Responsibilities include identifying gas, electric, water, sewer and fiber lines using locating equipment, recording locates, and coordinating with contractors and utilities to ensure compliance with safety and One-Call requirements.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret blueprints and maps.
• Proficient in GIS data interpretation and field notes.
• Strong safety awareness and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and locate underground utility lines.
• Mark utility locations to industry standards and regulations.
• Respond to excavation requests and complete locate tickets within required timeframe.
• Interpret maps, GIS data, and construction plans.
• Maintain accurate locates, field notes, and work orders.
• Communicate with contractors, homeowners, municipalities, and utility companies.
