Job summary

ITG Communications, LLC is seeking a dedicated Utility Locator to identify and mark underground utilities, ensuring safe excavation and construction activities. You will interpret maps and work orders, operate locating equipment, and document all locate activities to support field operations and prevent dig-related damages.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and clear communication with contractors and internal teams while maintaining equipment and complying with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience with utility locating, construction, telecom, gas, water, or electrical preferred.
• Knowledge of One-Call systems and 811 regulations a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform underground facility locates in accordance with standards.
• Read and interpret maps, GIS records, and work orders to determine utility paths.
• Use locating tools (transmitters, receivers, toners) to mark utilities.
• Document locate activities with sketches, notes, photos, GPS data, and work orders.
• Respond to routine tickets, emergency locate requests, high-priority projects, and re-marks.
• Communicate clearly with contractors, homeowners, utility providers, and internal teams.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and company vehicles in good condition.
• Follow OSHA, 811 guidelines, and state safety rules; report risks promptly.
• Support field operations and team members as needed.
