Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Technician I to perform inspection of contractor activities on transportation projects in North Carolina. This role supports quality, safety, and conformance to plans and specifications in field settings.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology and have construction inspection experience; TN visa is not relevant here. TN eligibility is noted for certain cases.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• NCDOT certifications (Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, Conventional Density Testing) preferred.
• Construction inspection experience on NCDOT projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specs.
• Perform routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and diaries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
