Job summary

TxDOT's Amarillo District is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief for the Hereford Maintenance Office to lead a skilled crew and oversee daily maintenance operations on local roadways.

The role requires five years of roadway maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and a Class A CDL. You will manage crews, estimate materials, operate light and heavy equipment, and ensure safety standards are met in all weather and emergency situations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5 years of roadway maintenance experience, with substitution allowed by related education or training.
• Valid driver’s license and Class A CDL required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Leads a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators performing skilled maintenance activities.
• Oversees maintenance section operations and coordinates activities with supervisors.
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment needed to complete assignments.
• Inspects roads en route to/from job sites and reports problems to supervisors.
• Maintains records on materials, equipment, and employee time sheets.
• Operates light and heavy equipment as required.
