Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation’s Amarillo District seeks a Transportation Maintence Spec VI to lead a crew maintaining highways, bridges and related infrastructure in the Hereford area. This hands-on role blends field work with supervision and requires CDL-A and proven roadway experience.

You’ll manage crews, coordinate materials and equipment, and ensure safety and quality in daily operations, emergency responses, and contractor oversight.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent
• 5 years' roadway maintenance experience with substitutions allowed for education
• Valid driver’s license and CDL-A required at time of application

Responsibilities

• Assist during accidents and emergency weather to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs
• Inspect roads and report problems to supervisors
• Operate light and heavy equipment
• Oversee contractors and sign technicians
• Maintain records on materials, equipment, and employee time sheets
