Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to review Highway Occupancy Permits, perform field inspections, and ensure compliance with standards. You will coordinate with engineers, contractors, and the public to keep projects on track and safe for travelers.

Full-time position with standard hours; telework not available. Prior experience in highway or bridge surveying and construction inspection is required or an equivalent

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work.
• Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, including reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics.
• One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
• Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
• One year of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering or closely related engineering technology.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Review Highway Occupancy Permits and conduct field inspections.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and the public to keep projects on track.
• Ensure permit activities follow department standards and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department of Transportation.
