Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) seeks Engineering Technicians/Construction Inspectors for Division 14 projects in Sylva, Waynesville, Hendersonville, Franklin, Murphy. You will provide daily observation, document findings, and ensure conformance with plans and specifications.

Candidates should have NCDOT certifications and experience in CEI services, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to work in varied field conditions, including night/weekend work as required.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or BS in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology is a plus.
• Roadway and bridge inspection experience is required.
• Experience working on NCDOT projects.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Must complete OSHA 10 within 2 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms.
• Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
• Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
• Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
• Verify lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.
• Perform accurate calculations and computations.
• Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet the quality requirements of the project specifications.
• Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
• Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
• Record Daily Work Reports to include quantities and an objective description of the work shift activities.
