Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking Transportation Technicians/Construction Inspectors for Division 13 in Asheville, NC. Position involves daily construction observation, report filing, and materials testing to ensure conformance with plans and specifications.

Qualifications

• Above average math and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer skills.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fleet drivers must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.
• HS diploma required or equivalent.
• Associate or BS in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology is a plus.
• Roadway and bridge inspection experience is required.
• Experience working on NCDOT projects.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Must complete OSHA 10 within 2 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms.
• Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
• Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and foundation excavation.
• Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
• Verifies lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.
• Perform accurate calculations and computations.
• Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet project specifications.
• Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
• Document and report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to supervisor.
• Record Daily Work Reports with quantities and descriptions of work shift activities.
