Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc. seeks motivated Construction Inspectors to join our Ohio team. You will perform daily field inspections on bridges, roads, and utilities, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 5 years of field experience in bridge and roadway construction, are proficient in reading plans, and can document progress clearly using Field Manager/Field Book and MS Office tools. Valid driver's license and own vehicle required.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of field experience in bridge deck and bridge rehabilitation/construction, roadway construction, concrete, soils and pavement sampling, testing and inspection on ODOT and/or ODOT Local Agency projects.
• All applicable ODOT certifications.
• Experience with ODOT documentation, inspection reports, and use of Field Manager/Field Book.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and ODOT standards, policies & practices, and current procedures.
• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean MVR for final consideration.
• Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site.
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions in English.
• Basic computer skills with Word/Excel/Outlook/SharePoint/Microsoft Teams.
• Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours.
• Able to traverse uneven ground and elevations on site.
• Able to climb ladders to platforms up to 20'.
• Able to operate a mechanical aerial lift or bucket truck up to 100 feet.
• Able to wear GPI PPE at all times.
• Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections and observations of contractor work for heavy highway and/or bridge projects.
• Ability to measure, compute, record, and maintain contract quantities.
• Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and standards.
• Perform and/or observe material sampling and testing per project standards.
• Ensure contractor work/materials meet standards and specifications.
• Document daily project progress, conformance with plans, manpower, equipment, and quantities.
• Enter and record project progress in SiteManager and ProjectWise.
• Identify and communicate project issues to project managers and contractors.
• Identify, assess, and communicate unsafe conditions.
