Job summary

AEP Texas Company, Inc. is seeking a Line Mechanic to perform installation, maintenance, and inspection of de-energized electrical transmission and distribution facilities under direct supervision.

Responsibilities include line patrols, pole setting, and assembling tower components in the field, with a strong focus on safety and compliance. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of transmission line experience (or equivalent training), and a valid Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED is required.
• Minimum of one year transmission electrical power line work experience, or equivalent training including 16 weeks internship or related line experience.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol transmission lines using maps and drawings.
• Install, maintain and repair overhead lines.
• Dig holes for poles, towers and anchors.
• Set poles and anchors; replace or stub poles, dead or energized.
• Assemble tower components on the ground and in the air; frame pole structures.
• Operate transmission line tools and equipment under supervision.
