Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking Transmission Line Mechanics at multiple levels to work on transmission line construction, maintenance, and safety. Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED (Transmission Line Mechanic-C level)
• High school graduate or GED (Transmission Line Mechanic-B level)
• Licenses/Certifications: Valid Class A CDL is required (Mechanic-C/B/A levels)

Responsibilities

• Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
• Patrol transmission lines using maps and drawings.
• Use proper hand signals for line work as required.
• Perform all right-of-way control procedures in use of transmission lines.
• Dig holes for poles, towers and anchors.
• Set poles, tower below-ground components, and guy anchorages.
• Install conductors and shield wires; test and prepare poles for climbing.
