Job summary

Orion International is seeking a Field Tool Technician to support customers across the Southwest, based near Dallas–Fort Worth, TX. You will apply technical knowledge to perform on-site tool maintenance, calibration, and commissioning while building strong customer relationships and ensuring uptime.

The role requires up to 80% travel to customer sites. You will train customers, diagnose issues, and provide expert solutions, with emphasis on safety, precision, and reliability in tool operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field service or equipment maintenance experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and high organizational skills.
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, shop math, and precision instruments.
• Capability to perform all field service functions, including equipment setup, maintenance, and repair.
• Basic understanding of PLCs.
• Ability to take verbal and written instructions, work independently at customer sites, and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Train customer personnel on proper tool operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
• Coordinate and schedule customer visits based on availability and requirements; maintain relationships with customers.
• Provide onsite consulting to customers on tool operation and shop setup to maximize productivity.
• Provide on-site tool support and maintenance at customer facilities; learn our tools and instruments.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on customer tools to minimize downtime.
• Respond to service calls for tool malfunctions with on-site diagnosis and repair solutions.
• Perform on-site calibration, testing, and commissioning of newly installed tools.
• Conduct warranty evaluations and repairs at customer sites with minimal disruption.
• Maintain customer tool inventories and service records; prepare detailed reports.
• Provide technical consultation on tool applications and best practices; uphold safety procedures.
