Job summary

Intertek Edgewood, NY seeks a Field Testing Technician to assist with field testing and building inspections. The role offers on-the-job training and significant travel with a shared company vehicle provided for work travel.

You will participate in field testing projects, forensic investigations, and client communications, developing reporting and coordination skills across projects in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 6+ months experience using hand and power tools.
• Comfortable working with elevated platforms.
• Ability to learn the building envelope and testing standards.
• Aptitude for working independently on assigned projects.
• Technical competency and ability to communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
• Good computer skills – Microsoft Office & Outlook.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and climb stairs/ladders.
• Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Field testing projects and building envelope testing as assigned.
• Forensic investigations of building envelope failures.
• Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting matters; prepare and submit reports.
• Provide project coordination including planning, scheduling, execution and reporting.
• Maintain consistent and professional interaction with clients and project team.
