Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Field Test Engineer for the Dive-XL Field Operations team to test and operate autonomous undersea vehicles in demanding environments. You will deploy, inspect, maintain, and report on AUV systems, collaborating across hardware, software, and networking disciplines.

The role requires 3+ years in a multidisciplinary engineering/test setting, the ability to work in Costa Mesa, CA daily, and willingness to travel 40–50%, including offshore voyages.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a multidisciplinary engineering/test team (integration, verification, demo).
• Ability to own a technical system in austere environments with self-sufficiency.
• Strong problem-solving at hardware-software-network interfaces.
• Independent learner, curious about new components and concepts.
• Willingness to travel ~40–50%, including offshore voyages.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to be in Costa Mesa, CA daily.
• Eligible for active U.S. Top Secret clearance.
• Subject to pre-employment and randomized substance screening.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for field deployments by sourcing and kitting AUV test gear.
• Conduct daily AUV inspections and system checks before/after operations.
• Coordinate AUV launches/recoveries, run daily test ops, and write reports.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades of AUVs in the field.
• Support SOP development and user documentation for AUV ops.
• Assist with risk assessments and mitigations for tests.
• Provide feedback to design/manufacturing teams on UI and system issues.
