Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) in Arlington, VA seeks a Field Test Engineer to support deployed software/hardware infrastructure for DoD testing. You will install, train, and operate test systems across multiple sites, coordinating with sponsors and test leads to ensure mission success.

Ideal candidates have Linux/VMware expertise, hardware/software deployment experience, and the ability to travel up to 50% in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Active U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related STEM field or equivalent professional experience.
• 1-3 years of related experience in field testing or similar roles.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems using CLI tools.
• Experience supporting software integration and testing in virtualized Linux environments.
• Ability to deploy and manage VMware-based environments (ESXi, vCenter).
• Ability to travel up to 50% and operate in mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and maintenance support for deployed software/hardware infrastructure across DoD and Navy test activities.
• Perform deployment, installation, training and support of new infrastructure at various test sites and platforms.
• Coordinate with sponsors to plan installation checkouts, operational testing and mission execution.
• Review software designs, generate test plans and procedures, and troubleshoot discrepancies during events.
• Communicate with customers and users to understand needs and drive cross-functional issues during tests.
