Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) in Arlington, VA seeks a Software Engineer for an on-site, full-time role supporting DoD software solutions. You will design, develop, test, and deploy software across C++ and Java, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust systems.

Responsibilities include prototyping next-gen solutions, integrating components, and participating in design reviews. Travel ~10% and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent full‑time experience.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Ability to decompose and document requirements.
• Understanding of distributed systems and design patterns.
• Experience with SDLC and version control.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test software using C++ and Java.
• Prototype DoD solutions and integrate components.
• Lead design reviews and code reviews with teams.
• Develop interfaces across TCP/UDP, DDS, ActiveMQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Support test and integration in labs and customer sites.
