Job summary

Gravity Power & Rental is seeking a Field Technician w/CDL to operate company vehicles, deliver and set up rental equipment at customer sites, and perform routine maintenance in the field.

You will train new staff, handle minor repairs, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations while supporting the sales team from the field. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old and insurable.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and experience.
• Ability to wire rig plugs and hard-wire generators.
• Ability to troubleshoot 480V equipment.
• Able to drive long distances in company vehicle.
• Lift 50+ pounds.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Delivers, sets up, swaps, fuels, and maintains equipment at customer locations.
• Performs preventative maintenance and service in the field.
• Provides technical assistance to customers and Sales team.
• Maintains DOT logs, DVIR, and all required forms.
• Performs DOT inspections on equipment.
• Assists in staffing coverage as needed.
• Answers company-issued cell phone during on-call hours.
• Adheres to all state and federal DOT laws.
• Trains new employees.
• Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

Description

The Field Technician w/CDL 3 operates a commercial vehicle and provides delivery and setup of the Company’s rental equipment to customer locations. Performs preventative maintenance and service on equipment in the field in a safe and efficient manner. This position also provides training to new employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Works with ethics, honesty, values, and integrity. Provides a position of professionalism toothers.
• Delivers, sets up, swaps, fuels, and performs minor repairs on diesel- and natural gas-poweredequipment on customer locations.
• Operates Company commercial vehicles, including tractor trailers and token trailers, andequipment in accordance with policy and safety procedures.
• Maintains and completes required logbooks, DVIR, and all other DOT required forms.
• Performs DOT inspections on equipment.
• Completes starting and charging repairs on ICE (internal combustible engine) poweredequipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance and service on equipment.
• Performs diagnosis on field equipment to evaluate the need for further field repair or swapout.
• Uses all electrical tools, safety devices, and equipment in accordance with policy and safetyprocedures.
• Provides technical assistance to customers and members of Sales team.
• Assists in covering key staffing shortages at the branch as necessary.
• Adheres to all state and federal DOT laws.
• Completes all required monthly safety and equipment-related trainings.
• Answers Company-issued cell phone during on call hours, in accordance with Company and safetypolicies.
• Any other duty, responsibility or task as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience

High School or GED equivalent, some college preferred.

Must be at least 21 years of age and able to maintain insurability with Company insurance.

Requires basic mechanical knowledge and experience.

Ability to complete wiring of rig plugs and hard wiring of generators.

Ability to troubleshoot of 480V equipment.

Must be able to drive long distances/periods in Company vehicle.

Ability to lift 50+ pounds required.

Requires understanding of basic maintenance concepts needed to perform light to moderate repairs as necessary.

Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and management.

Ability to read, write, and speak English to the extent they understand verbal and written instructions in English.
