Job summary

NiSource is seeking an entry-level Operations Field Technician based near Newark, OH. The role progresses to Field Technician 2 after two years of training and Operator Qualifications.

Responsibilities include installing, repairing, and replacing distribution facilities and operating maintenance equipment to serve residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, is capable of using hand tools, and can obtain a CDL within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to use various types of hand tools for repair of field facilities.
• Must be able to obtain a valid Ohio CDL and DOT certification for intrastate drivers within 3 months.
• Must perform basic math, prepare legible records, and understand written and oral communications.
• Must work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to read gauges and dials.
• Must be able to be certified to wear SCBA.
• Position requires work in all weather conditions.
• All roles subject to DOT AMPP regulations.
• Candidates must pass pre-employment assessments and background checks.
• Must adhere to area-specific living requirements and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace distribution facilities and operate maintenance equipment.
• Serve a residential and commercial customer base.
• Operate light earth-moving equipment (e.g., backhoe, side boom, tamper, hydra-crane).
• Maintain equipment (cleaning, greasing, lubrication) and transport equipment/materials.
