Job summary

NiSource in Chillicothe, OH, is seeking an entry-level Operations Field Technician. This position offers a clear path to Field Technician 2 after two years of training and Operator Qualifications (OQs).

You will install, repair and replace distribution facilities, operate light earth-moving equipment, and support both residential and commercial customers. Successful candidates will pass multiple pre-employment screenings and meet DOT/AMPP requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools for field facility repairs.
• Ability to obtain Ohio CDL and DOT intrastate certification within 3 months.
• Capable of basic math, legible record-keeping and clear communication.
• Team player who can work under varying weather conditions.
• Willing to pass pre-employment screenings (Attitude, Aptitude, Physical, drug, MVR, background).
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations relevant to pipeline safety preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace distribution facilities such as main lines and services.
• Operate light earth-moving equipment and maintain it (cleaning, greasing, lubrication).
• Serve residential and commercial customers and support field operations.
• Respond to emergencies and comply with DOT/AMPP regulations.
• Complete safety training and adhere to living requirements and company policies.
