Job summary

American Engineering Testing (AET) in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a Field Technician 2 to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, bituminous materials, masonry, and reinforcing steel, ensuring QA/QC compliance. You will conduct field density and Proctor tests, plastic concrete testing, and hand auger borings under a project manager, reporting results and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• Associates or technical degree in a related field, AND 3 or more years of related experience; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND at least one year of related experience.
• Other certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing: field density and Proctor density test of soils; field testing of plastic concrete; laboratory testing of bituminous materials.
• Observe excavations and correlate observations with soil boring logs; perform hand auger borings under project manager.
• Report test results; communicate with project managers, clients, contractors and other personnel.
• Laboratory maintenance duties as assigned; conduct miscellaneous projects involving procedures, lab and equipment.
