Job summary

UES, Inc. seeks a Field Technician I to perform on-site testing and inspections of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates, supporting geotechnical and environmental projects.

You will collect samples, maintain test equipment, prepare detailed reports, and ensure compliance with project specs and OSHA safety rules. This outdoor role requires up to 70% travel, a valid driver’s license, and strong teamwork to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.
• 0-3 years outdoor/field experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
• ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing certification or ability to obtain.
• Commitment to workplace safety and PPE.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented for sample collection and testing procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility for early mornings, weekends, overtime, overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials to verify compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Collect, label, and transport samples from job sites to laboratories for testing and analysis.
• Ensure testing requirements are met and comply with project specifications and company policies.
• Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results and submit to project managers.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment according to guidelines.
• Document test results, observations, and site conditions with timely reports.
• Communicate updates with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers.
• Adhere to timelines and schedules; travel to job sites as required.
• Adapt to changing project requirements and weather conditions.
• Participate in training and certification programs to maintain proficiency.
• Follow OSHA safety guidelines and use PPE properly.
• Operate and maintain an assigned company vehicle, including routine maintenance.
