Job summary

Astreya is seeking a Field Technician I (Physical Layer Specialist) in Las Vegas to execute physical installation, cabling, and validation tasks in data center environments. The role involves 0–2 years experience, rack-and-stack operations, precise cabling, AP mounting, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include documenting equipment details, following rack elevations, and communicating progress and blockers to shifts and leads.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years experience in field technician roles.
• Data Center: Rack and Stack operations, installs servers, switches, and storage.
• Cabling: termination of copper (CAT6/A), proper cable dressing, labeling.
• Wi-Fi: mounting APs and cable pulling; performs passive site surveys.
• Construction & Facilities: assembles racks and aisle containment; follows OSHA protocols.
• Tooling: basic use of LinkSprinter, drills, label makers.
• Communication/Documentation: provides concise updates, records serials and port locations, writes task summaries.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and install equipment in data center racks and cabinets.
• Perform cable termination, labeling, and routing per rack elevations.
• Mount Wi-Fi access points and conduct passive site surveys.
• Maintain clean builds and comply with OSHA protocols.
• Document progress and blockers; communicate clearly with teams.

Field Technician I (Physical Layer Specialist)

We have Level 1 & Level 2 role.

Focus: Execution, Physical Installation, and Validation.

• Experience: 0–2 Years.
• Data Center: \"Rack and Stack\" operations. Physically installs servers, switches, and storage. Understands Hot/Cold aisle containment and asset tagging.
• Cabling: Proficient in copper (CAT6/A) termination, professional cable dressing (combing), and labeling. Follows rack elevation drawings with high precision.
• Wi-Fi: Performs physical AP mounting and cable pulling. Conducts \"passive\" site surveys (walking a pre-defined path with a sensor).
• Construction & Facilities: Assembly of racks and aisle containment. Routine visual inspections of cooling/power units. Adheres to \"Clean Build\" and OSHA protocols.
• Tooling: Basic use of cable verifiers (LinkSprinter), power drills, and label makers.
• Communication/ Documentation: Provides clear, concise updates to team leads and managers regarding physical layer build progress and project blockers . Able to ask clarifying questions in a concise and timely manner. Notes specific equipment details, serial numbers, and port locations without errors. Delivers organized, written summaries of incomplete tasks to incoming shifts to prevent dropped work.
