Job summary

Boingo Wireless seeks a Field Network Technician to diagnose, repair, and support wireless network services in military housing environments. You will work with Wireless Access Points, enterprise switches, fiber and structured cabling, ensuring high-quality service during field visits and dispatches.

The role emphasizes hands-on installation, maintenance, and problem-solving in outdoor settings, with occasional weekend or night work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years field experience installing structured cabling (Fiber, Cat5, Cat6) in commercial settings.
• Experience in mechanical and fusion splicing.
• Experience installing and supporting network equipment (VOIP, WAPs, cameras, IP surveillance, etc.).
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather; occasional weekends/nights.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and provide technical support for Wireless Access Points, enterprise switches, cabling, and network hardware in MDUs.
• Perform network maintenance to avoid outages and service interruptions.
• Install and repair fiber distribution infrastructure.
• Provide quality service and customer support during field visits or dispatches.
• Assist in installation/activation of building infrastructure including wiring, fiber optics, data and video electronics.
• Troubleshoot with end-users to support Boingo's customer service mission.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and provide technical support with Wireless Access Points, Enterprise Switches, structured cabling, fiber optic cabling, and network hardware in MDU environments
• Perform network maintenance to alleviate system outages including distribution systems and hardware
• Install and repair fiber distribution infrastructure
• Provide quality service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
• Participate in the installation and activation of building infrastructure including wiring systems, fiber optics, data and video electronics
• Problem-solve with end-users and support the organizations mission to deliver exceptional customer service

Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent field experience installation of structured cabling (Fiber, Cat 5, Cat 6) as well as the network equipment that attaches to structured cabling in commercial setting – pulling, running, testing, terminating
• Prior experience in both mechanical and fusion splicing
• Prior experience installing and supporting network equipment such as: VOIP, WAPs, cameras, CATV, Security Systems, IP Surveillance, card access, speakers, stereo, amenity systems, energy management systems, network servers, routers, switches, racks, or digital streaming media
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Weekend and night work will occasionally be required
