Job summary

Appvion is seeking a Technical Field Specialist to deliver hands-on technical expertise, support product implementation, and drive customer success across the field. You will work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to resolve challenges, oversee trials, and help onboard new business opportunities.

The role requires extensive travel (about 75%), strong communication, and the ability to translate customer needs into practical technical solutions, while maintaining rigorous safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical and customer-facing experience.
• Minimum 3 years in technical support, field service, sales support, customer service, or account management in manufacturing.
• Experience supporting customer trials, product samples, testing, implementations, or onboarding preferred.
• Willingness to travel approximately 75% to customer sites and business locations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with EHS policies at company and customer locations.
• Participate in EHS training, safety observations, hazard identification, and safety initiatives.
• Foster Continuous Improvement activities across the business.
• Maintain product quality, GMPs, and workmanship standards.
• Support onboarding activities for new business opportunities and product adoption.
• Coordinate and execute product testing, trials, sample evaluations, and feedback documentation.
• Gather field feedback to drive continuous product improvements.
• Develop field monitoring schedules with teammates for field support.
• Provide on-site technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to customers.
• Attend sales calls and customer meetings to provide technical input for solutions.
• Collaborate with sales to identify customer needs and opportunities.
• Act as liaison between customers and internal teams (sales, operations, quality, product dev/management, service).
• Assist with customer training, product demonstrations, and technical education.
• Support marketing, content generation, and trade show activities.
• Maintain records of visits, trials, samples, reports, issues, and actions for product management.
