Job summary

MasTec, Inc. is seeking a Survey Tech to obtain and compute data for measuring Earth features, learn construction layouts, perform topographic analysis, and capture static measurements using GNSS and related equipment.

You will maintain and troubleshoot GPS gear while collaborating with engineering and construction teams. Requirements include an Associate or Bachelor’s in surveying or related field, at least one year of survey experience in construction, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, remote sensing, drafting, engineering, or related technical field.
• One year of survey experience in construction or operations with exposure to engineering, civil, or renewable energy activities.
• Take responsibility for health and safety following Zero Injury principles.
• Proficient in reading safety rules and operating manuals; able to interpret documents.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Collect field data using surveying equipment with precise measurements.
• Collaborate with project team to understand construction sequence.
• Apply GPS to set lath for construction, including center and offsets.
• Operate survey instruments to capture static measurements with verified residuals.
• Perform calculations to determine elevations, distances and angles.
• Record survey measurements and descriptive data in notes and sketches.
• Verify horizontal and vertical residuals daily using benchmarks.
• Search for section corners, property lines and survey points.
• Maintain and troubleshoot GPS equipment as directed by Survey Equipment team.
• Ensure tools are cleaned and stored properly at day end.
• Foster communication between surveying, engineering and project management.
• Provide updates on surveying progress, challenges, and solutions.
