Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC is seeking a Survey Technician/Instrument Operator to support field crews in boundary, topographic, and construction layout work across projects nationwide. The role involves operating survey instruments, collecting geospatial data, and maintaining field notes under supervision.

Candidate should have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and at least one year of surveying experience. Travel may be required to stay with crews as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid, current driver's license and ability to meet company MVR standards.
• One year industry experience.
• Knowledge of land surveying practices and basic survey types.
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel/stay out of town for work.

Responsibilities

• Support field crew by gathering data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
• Assist in field surveys under supervision of a Crew Chief; communicate progress and address problems.
• Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, and levels.
• Use survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
• Read and interpret various maps and plans.
• Maintain neat field notes with accurate measurements.
• Load/unload trucks with equipment and supplies.
• Clean and maintain survey equipment and vehicles.
• Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices.
