Job summary

Primoris Pipeline, Inc. is seeking a Surveyor Party Chief to lead a field survey crew on construction projects across Texas.

You will supervise staff, operate and maintain total stations, GPS and data collectors, and perform topographic, staking and boundary surveys with strict attention to accuracy and safety. You will interpret engineering plans, compile field notes, and coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure on-time, compliant survey deliverables.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; associate degree or certificate preferred.
• 3–5 years land surveying experience with 1–2 years in leadership.
• Proficiency operating survey instruments (total stations, GPS, data collectors).
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, blueprints and specifications.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in outdoor conditions; valid driver's license.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a survey crew in the field, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors, to accurately collect and record field data.
• Perform topographic, construction staking, boundary and as-built surveys and interpret plans to establish control points.
• Conduct research from deeds, plats, and prior survey records to aid projects.
• Perform calculations and adjustments to verify data accuracy.
• Communicate with project managers and engineers to meet requirements.
• Prepare field notes, sketches, and documentation; troubleshoot field issues and ensure compliance with policies.
