Job summary

SAM in New York is seeking a Geomatics Crew Chief to lead field surveying operations, including data collection with GNSS and total stations and construction layout. You will oversee the crew, plan field work, and ensure accurate, timely reports on site.

Requirements include 5+ years of industry experience, proficiency with Trimble equipment, and Part 107 licensure or the ability to obtain it. Strong communication and travel readiness are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience is required.
• Competent operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs.
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred.
• Part 107 licensure or ability to obtain licensure.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily field operations of a land survey crew.
• Plan data acquisition for surveys from control to as-built layouts.
• Document work performed and prepare sketches.
• Communicate with Project Surveyor and technician on schedule and progress.
• Interact professionally with clients and landowners.
• Read construction drawings and understand tolerances.
• Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and equipment maintenance.
• Travel and work in varying terrains; maintain gear.
