Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking an experienced Field Crew Chief to supervise daily field operations, perform data collection for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys, and ensure quality and safety on site. You will coordinate with project managers and engineers while managing field notes and equipment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of surveying experience, proficiency with robotic total stations, GNSS, and Trimble gear, and the ability to travel and work outdoors

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of industry experience; prior crew chief experience preferred.
• Experience operating robotic total stations and GNSS receivers.
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred.
• Strong communication, numeric, and technical skills.
• Willingness to travel and outdoor work year-round.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations (boundary, topographic, construction layout).
• Determine efficient data acquisition plans for field surveys and as-builts.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and project tolerances.
• Communicate project status with managers, engineers, and technicians.
• Interact professionally with clients and landowners.
• Document field notes, sketches, and data clearly.
• Prepare daily reports and time sheets.
• Maintain survey equipment and vehicle in good condition.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
