Colliers Engineering & Design in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join our survey crew. You will assist the Crew Chief with field surveys, operate Total Stations, GPS and data collectors, and help prepare job sites for surveys.

We value teamwork, accurate data collection and adherence to safety policies. Travel may be required; a valid driver's license is often needed. This role offers growth within our geospatial services.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience.
• Valid Driver’s license may be required.
• Demonstrate basic organizational skills and prioritizing.
• Intermediate knowledge of surveying practices and equipment.
• Ability to effectively operate/handle surveying equipment.
• Teamwork and collaboration.
• Basic knowledge of math, geometry and trigonometry for calculations.
• Occasional travel and long drives.
• Read/write/understand English for job communications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Crew Chief in field surveys.
• Use standard equipment and safety methods.
• Operate Total Stations, Data Collector and GPS.
• Upload/download field data collections.
• Possibly drive the Survey vehicle.
• Set up instruments and prep job site.
• Follow safety policies and SOPs.
• Maintain survey instruments and equipment.
• Stock and maintain truck supplies.
