Job summary

Alabama Power in Birmingham is seeking a Survey Specialist to enhance field survey data gathering, test new equipment and software, and coordinate GPS data collection with field crews and landowners.

The role also involves processing survey data, coordinating with agencies, and ensuring maps reflect field results, with training for crews in data collection tools. Relocation benefits are not available.

Qualifications

• Alabama Professional Land Surveyor’s License or ability to obtain license is required.
• Extensive knowledge of survey calculation is required.
• Experience in survey data collection and processing is highly preferred.
• Experience in GPS data collection and processing is highly preferred.
• Survey related CAD drafting is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop new techniques to improve speed and quality of field survey data gathering by testing equipment and software.
• Adjust and process field survey data.
• Coordinate GPS data gathering and processing.
• Coordinate with field crews, land owners, corporations and government agencies.
• Ensure maps reflect the intended results of the field survey.
• Research and document compilation for projects.
• Occasional field survey data gathering.
• Train field crews to use data collection software and GPS equipment.
