Job summary

Alabama Power is seeking a Survey Specialist to advance field survey data gathering, processing and GPS coordination. You will work closely with field crews, landowners and agencies to ensure maps reflect survey results and project needs.

The role includes training, data processing and occasional field work. The candidate should have Alabama licensure eligibility, strong survey calculation knowledge and GPS/data collection experience, with CAD drafting skills preferred.

Qualifications

• Alabama Professional Land Surveyor’s License or ability to obtain license is required.
• Extensive knowledge of survey calculation is required.
• Experience in survey data collection and processing is highly preferred.
• Experience in GPS data collection and processing is highly preferred.
• Survey CAD drafting experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop new techniques to improve speed and quality of field survey data gathering.
• Adjust and process field survey data.
• Coordinate GPS data gathering and processing with teams.
• Communicate and coordinate with field crews, land owners, corporations and agencies.
• Coordinate with field survey personnel to reflect finished maps as intended.
• Research and document compilation for various projects.
• Occasionally perform field survey data gathering.
• Train field crews to use data collection software and GPS equipment.
