Job summary

SAM is seeking an experienced Land Survey Crew Chief to supervise daily field operations for boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys in Columbia, SC. You will lead a field crew, determine efficient data acquisition plans, and interpret construction drawings to meet project tolerances.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience; prior crew chief experience preferred.
• Ability to operate in varied weather conditions and carry up to 80lbs.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company MVR standards.
• Experience reading construction drawings and interpreting project specs and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the land survey crew for daily field operations (boundary, topographic, construction layout).
• Determine efficient data acquisition plans for field surveys from control to as-builts.
• Read and interpret construction plans and tolerances; ensure data quality and traceability.
• Communicate daily with project managers, engineers, and technicians on schedules and progress.
• Maintain field equipment and document reports, time sheets, and field notes.
