Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey operations across Central Indiana. You will work closely with an instrument operator in a two-person crew and may work independently to deliver construction layouts, as-built, topo, and boundary surveys.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
• Experience performing field portions of construction layout, boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys.
• Hands-on civil surveying experience with construction layout and land boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Lead field survey crews to perform construction layouts, as-built, topo, and boundary surveys for diverse projects.
• Coordinate with instrument operator; perform solo field work when needed.
• Conduct field portions of construction layout surveys ensuring precise staking for construction activities.
• Perform topo and boundary surveys to support post-design and pre-design work.
• Advance ALTA survey work after initial contract period; ensure standards compliance.
• Operate Trimble GPS base/rover, VRS, robotic total stations, levels, data collectors, and processing software.
• Verify data accuracy; communicate discrepancies to project managers and team members.
• Travel to Central Indiana job sites from home; maintain punctual start times.
• Attend office meetings to review requirements and schedules with project teams.
• Maintain safety; follow policies; manage company vehicles/equipment/laptops.
• Support ~45–50 hours per week with rotating Saturdays; adapt to workloads.
