Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets, a leading provider of Electrification-as-a-Service (EaaS), seeks a Field Service Technician to service electric school buses and charging stations at customer sites in the Dallas area. You will diagnose, repair, and test electric systems to maximize uptime and safety for fleets.

The role requires 5+ years in EV or medium/heavy-duty fleet repair, CDL within 12 months, and ASE certifications, with strong diagnostic and electrical skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years in Electrician, Electric Vehicle, or Medium/Heavy duty truck fleet repair.
• Advanced diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills required.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Clean driving record; CDL required within 12 months; 3 ASE certifications and 4 OEM certifications within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform EV and charger repairs.
• Test-drive vehicles to verify repair resolutions.
• Maintain detailed documentation of troubleshooting and repairs in the asset management system.
• Act as on-site advocate for EVs and strive for 90% uptime.
• Coordinate with external vendors for follow-up repairs and documentation.
• Provide repair and maintenance support to junior technicians.
• Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.

The Field Service Technician is enthusiastic about EVs and a self-starter who will work closely with customers to ensure that Highland’s electric vehicles and charging stations are working properly and that buses can get students to where they need to be. No day will look the same, but responsibilities will include performing original equipment manufacturer-approved testing, repairs, and troubleshooting customer issues.

Highland will provide the relevant training to repair all local equipment including basic electric vehicle functions, Level 2 EV chargers to DC Fast Chargers, and communications equipment.

• Act as the company’s on-site advocate for EV’s and EVSBs, striving to achieve 90% overall uptime
• Represent the company at customer locations with the highest standards of professional conduct
• Retains a clean and safe work environment and brings any unsafe practices or conditions to management
• Diagnoses malfunctions and performs electric vehicle and charger repairs (e.g., adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial and local guidelines and requirements. Test‑drives vehicles to ensure repair resolved
• Maintain detailed and timely documentation for troubleshooting and repairs, records time and materials used for each assignment in asset management platform
• Assist in managing of external support vendors to follow up and document repairs being made to Highland’s assets
• Provides repair and maintenance assistance to junior technician staff
• Performs road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
• Undergo electric vehicle and charger OEM and internal trainings
• Minimum of 5+ years Electrician, Electric Vehicle, or Medium/Heavy duty truck Fleet repair experience
• Advanced Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills required
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Knowledge of MS Suite products
• Possess the recommended tools for a Medium Duty technician as well as electrical diagnostics tooling
• Flexibility to work bus depot hours (early morning to afternoon) and weekends (when on scheduled shift)
• Clean Driving Record is required
• Requirements within 12 months of employment: Commercial Driver’s License Required / Minimum 3 ASE certifications required (bonus compensation available if greater) / and Minimum of 4 OEM Certifications required (bonus compensation available if greater)
