Piper Companies seeks a Field Support Specialist to support Oracle hardware on Solaris and Linux in a government-focused, highly secure environment. The role is onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD and requires TS/SCI with FSPG.

The candidate will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, manage on-site tickets, and travel to customer locations for repairs while maintaining proactive communication and meeting SLAs in a long-term contract.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting Oracle and Sun Microsystems hardware, firmware, and software issues.
• Strong expertise supporting Oracle hardware platforms and Solaris/Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Oracle ZFS Storage Appliances, Exadata systems, and Oracle Database Appliances.

Piper Companies is seeking a Field Support Specialist to join a leading government-focused technology and infrastructure organization. This Field Support Specialist opportunity is ideal for a professional with strong Oracle hardware experience, Solaris/Linux administration knowledge, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in highly secure environments. The Field Support Specialist role is a long term, open ended contract opportunity and requires you to work onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role requires an active TS/SCI with FSPG.

Responsibilities of the Field Support Specialist:

• Provide support for Oracle hardware running Solaris and Linux operating systems, including ZFS storage, Exadata, Oracle Database Appliances, and legacy Sun Microsystems hardware.
• Deliver on-site service desk coverage and technical support for end users.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues received through email, phone, and instant messaging channels.
• Manage and maintain on-site ticket queues for break/fix and support requests.
• Travel to customer locations to perform hardware repairs, including drive replacements, connectivity issues, power failures, and latency-related concerns.
• Maintain proactive communication with customers throughout issue resolution and service delivery.
• Meet established support SLAs and delivery deadlines.
• Escalate customer concerns and unresolved technical issues to leadership when necessary.
• Coordinate with remote data center personnel to facilitate access and support activities.
• Create and manage work orders and break/fix requests for local and remote locations.
• Maintain inventory of on-site spare equipment and replacement components.
• Adhere to government security policies and operational procedures.
• Conduct routine customer check-ins to identify and address potential hardware or software concerns.

Requirements of the Field Support Specialist:

• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting Oracle and Sun Microsystems hardware, firmware, and software issues.
• Strong expertise supporting Oracle hardware platforms and Solaris/Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Oracle ZFS Storage Appliances, Exadata systems, and Oracle Database Appliances.
• Hands-on experience with firmware upgrades, software patching, and system maintenance activities.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, firmware, and operating system issues.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) clearance.
