Job summary

The City of Phenix City is seeking a Service Supervisor for the Utilities – Water Distribution team. You will supervise a field crew, inspect equipment, and oversee repairs and installations of water lines, meters and vaults.

This role requires hands-on operation of backhoes and dump trucks, with emphasis on safety and efficiency. Starting wages are $21.84–$25.51 per hour, depending on ADEM Grade I certification, with non-exempt status and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or demonstrated proficiency.
• Experience supervising a crew and coordinating field work.
• Must obtain Water Certification (ADEM) within one year of hire; Class B CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment and supervise crew to ensure safety and quality.
• Operate backhoe and dump truck for water distribution projects.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and vehicles.
• Coordinate installation and repairs of water lines and meters.
