Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. seeks a field engineer to support maintenance, construction, testing and commissioning of high-voltage substations up to 500 kV.

The role involves working in the field 90% of the time, traveling to various substation sites, and collaborating with multiple teams to ensure safe and reliable operations. Required is a BSEE/BSCE/BSME from ABET-accredited program with at least 2 years of engineering experience; FE certificate preferred, PE/license acceptable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution is required.
• FE certificate preferred or PE/license alternative accepted.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide field engineering services for maintenance, construction, testing and commissioning of substations up to 500 kV.
• Support regional substation activities with technical guidance and problem solving.
• Assist in developing maintenance practices and design reviews for substation equipment.
• Travel across FirstEnergy system with occasional overnight stays as needed.
