Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking an engineer to provide field engineering and technical support for maintenance, construction, testing and commissioning of substations up to 500 kV.

The role involves substantial field work at substations and service centers, with collaboration across multiple teams and contractors. Required is a BS in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (ABET) with PE/FE options considered; 2+ years of experience, and willingness to travel as needed to support system

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required or equivalent.
• FE certificate preferred; PE license acceptable alternative.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience (Engineer II) advancing with higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide field engineering services and technical support for maintenance, construction, testing and commissioning of substations up to 500 kV.
• Work primarily in the field at substations and service centers; may involve travel.
• Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Education

ABET-accredited engineering degree (Electrical, Civil or Mechanical)

FE certificate preferred

PE license acceptable alternative

Engineering Technology degree (ABET) with advanced degree
