Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a skilled Specialty Technician to perform field observations, testing, inspections, and sampling across soils, aggregates, concrete, and steel at sites in the King of Prussia, PA area. The role covers destructive and non-destructive testing, data reduction, and coordination with project teams.

You will work under senior staff, gaining experience with industry standards, safety practices, and reporting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience.
• Must have and maintain at least 2 specialty certifications from industry authorities such as NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASNT, ASTM, and be willing to obtain advanced and additional certifications as needed, such as AWS CWI or Ultrasound Level II.
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Must provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - Mileage will be reimbursed.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Sound working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles, applications, and testing standards.
• Excellent understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to perform work at heights. Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors. Proficiency with electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: Perform observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials; Execute tasks under guidance of senior technicians and project managers; Inspections may be conducted in fabrication facilities or on mechanical piping systems and pressure vessels.
• Testing Procedures: Conduct observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections using various methodologies and testing equipment; May include GPR structural surveys, material verification, and corrosion surveys.
• Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspections; Engage in drafting and administrative duties; Maintain organization of field equipment.
• Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers; Attend project meetings as requested.
• Training and Development: Receive ECS methodology training for project observations, inspections, and testing; Document findings with precision; Mentor other technicians as they grow.
