Job description

Do you thrive on technical challenges and enjoy making a difference for customers?

Microtrac is a pioneer and leading manufacturer of light scattering instruments for particle analysis.

While Microtrac existed first as a business segment within a larger organization, the company Microtrac Inc. was ultimately founded in 1999 and has since been growing steadily.

The instruments are used both for industrial applications and material research. We believe that our journey is far from complete. We're looking for innovators and critical thinkers who are eager to challenge the status quo, are willing to contribute new ideas and take over responsibility. If you are passionate about your work and are looking for a position where you can make a tangible impact, we want you on our team.

Our commitment to delivering reliable laboratory equipment and exceptional customer support is key to our success. Therefore, we are looking for a Field Service Technician/Engineer (m/d/f) to strengthen our team and ensure our customers experience optimal performance and satisfaction, based in the region between Indiana, Tennessee, South Carolina and up to Pennsylvania/New Jersey.

At Microtrac, you don’t just work—you empower yourself by growing your skills, making an impact, and shaping the future of lab technology.

Your Responsibilities as Field Service Technician/Engineer:
  • Install and commission instruments at customer sites, ensuring users benefit from our technology right from the start.

  • Provide prompt phone and e-mail support, addressing customer issues with efficiency and professionalism.
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships, enhancing Microtrac’s reputation as a trusted partner.
  • Accurately document service visits and maintain clear records, supporting continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Adhere to company policies and standards, ensuring service excellence and safety at every step.
As Field Service Technician/Engineer you're a perfect match, if...
  • A Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Engineering or a Technical discipline is part of your qualifications.
  • At least 3 years’ experience servicing or repairing laboratory instruments in field settings is among your strengths.
  • Technical foundation includes knowledge of optical, mechanical, electronics, and computer systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills help you succeed in customer-facing roles.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, even under pressure, is a strength.
  • Documentation and reporting are handled with attention to detail.
  • Self-management, multitasking, and effective time management are second nature to you.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% domestically, with easy access to major airports.
What we offer:
  • An interesting and diversified job as well as a dynamic and open working atmosphere
  • A performance-related, success-oriented salary
