Headquartered just outside Chicago in Mount Prospect, IL, SNK America operates a Tech Center that provides application assistance, periodic maintenance and training, and performance test cuts for new and long-standing customers. The organization emphasizes responsive support, technical expertise, and long-term partnerships with customers seeking high-performance machining solutions.
Role Description The Field Services Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Mount Prospect, IL. This role is responsible for installing, commissioning, and servicing SNK, JOBS, and NISSIN machine tools at customer locations, as well as performing diagnostics and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, documenting service activities, and coordinating with the Tech Center and internal teams to resolve complex technical problems. The Field Services Engineer will provide customer training on proper machine operation and care, offer technical support and guidance, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through clear communication and timely follow-up. Occasional travel to customer sites across North America may be required.
Qualifications

  • Strong field service capabilities, including hands-on installation, commissioning, and on-site support for industrial or CNC machine tools.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues.
  • Experience delivering technical support, including remote and in-person assistance, clear documentation, and collaboration with engineering or support teams.
  • Demonstrated preventive maintenance skills, including inspections, routine servicing, and recommendations to improve machine reliability and performance.
  • Customer service skills focused on professional communication, relationship building, and maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach at customer sites.
  • Relevant technical education such as an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field, or equivalent military/industry experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings; familiarity with CNC controls and machine tool software is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed, with a valid driver’s license and the ability to work in industrial environments.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
