Job summary

mechatronic systemtechnik gmbh is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Austin, TX, to install, calibrate, and commission sophisticated semiconductor equipment at client sites. The role includes travel, on-site and remote support, and hands-on diagnostics.

The position requires a strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, with hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in technical support, maintenance, or field installations.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus but not mandatory.
• Wamiliarity with safety regulations and on-site service procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install new equipment or systems at customer sites
• Configure and calibrate machinery to meet performance standards
• Perform initial tests and ensure successful handover to the client
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or replacements
• Keep equipment running efficiently and reduce downtime
• Provide on-site or remote technical support to customers
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues
• Train operators and end-users on equipment use and basic troubleshooting
• Maintain service logs and complete service reports
• Document technical issues, solutions, and parts used
• Report findings to the service or engineering team
• Act as the face of the company to customers
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
• Explain technical issues clearly and professionally
• Follow safety regulations and company policies
• Execute risk assessments when required
• Travel frequently to customer sites, sometimes on short notice
• Work flexible hours for urgent repairs or service

Our customers include manufacturers of modern semiconductor componenents (such as microsensors, power semiconductors, and 3D-stacked semiconductor systems) for mobile applications (smartphones, Internet of Things, automotive, etc.), as well as OEMs in the field of inspection systems, wet chemistry, and metallization systems.

Installation and Commissioning

• Install new equipment or systems at customer sites
• Configure and calibrate machinery to meet performance standards
