Job summary

Metrohm USA is seeking an entry-level Field Service Technician to support customers across the Chicago, Illinois region. You will perform preventative maintenance and basic service on Metrohm laboratory instrumentation while delivering outstanding customer support on-site and remotely.

Travel within the territory is required, with up to 40% overnight travel. Training is provided, and a company vehicle is included.

Position Summary

Metrohm USA is seeking an entry-level Field Service Technician to support customers throughout the Chicago, Illinois region. This field-based position is ideal for a technically minded individual who enjoys hands‑on work, solving problems, and building strong customer relationships.

As a Field Service Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and basic service on Metrohm laboratory instrumentation while providing outstanding customer support both on‑site and remotely. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong customer focus, and a willingness to learn. We will provide the training and resources needed to help you succeed.

What You’ll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance and basic service on Metrohm laboratory instruments at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation issues as needed.
• Provide technical support to customers in person, by phone, email, and Microsoft Teams.
• Document service activities and maintain service records.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and internal partners.
• Effectively manage and prioritize service requests across a large geographic territory.
• Attend training programs at Metrohm USA headquarters in Tampa, Florida.

Territory & Travel

This position supports Metrohm customers throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana region and is based in the greater Chicago, Illinois area.

This is a remote, field-based position that requires regular travel within the assigned territory, including overnight travel approximately 40% of the time. Periodic travel outside the territory may be required to support customers and colleagues in other regions.

Required Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to test, diagnose, and repair technical equipment.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.

Preferred

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or another STEM-related field.
• Laboratory experience, including familiarity with laboratory equipment and practices.
• Previous technical service, maintenance, or field service experience.
• Experience traveling for work.

Compensation

This position is also eligible for a quarterly incentive bonus, with annual earnings potential of up to $1,000.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including geographic location, market conditions, education, skills, experience, and other job-related qualifications.
