Job summary

RES is seeking a Field Service Technician III for solar Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will assist senior technicians in operating and maintaining utility-scale solar assets, including preventative maintenance on PV panels, trackers, and inverters.

The role requires troubleshooting of low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage systems, with strong emphasis on safety, LOTO, and CMMS usage. Travel within 60 miles and on-call availability are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in a technical field preferred.
  • OSHA 10/30 preferred.
  • 4+ years electrical maintenance experience required.
  • 2+ years medium voltage electrical work experience required.
  • 1+ years high voltage electrical work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CMMS.
  • Willingness to reside within 60 miles of site.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with operating and maintaining solar facilities.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on PV assets and inverters.
  • Troubleshoot LV, MV, and HV electrical systems.
  • Interface with project stakeholders and subcontractors.
  • Respond to priority emergency calls within 1.5 hours.
  • Follow LOTO, safety plans, and OSH procedures.
  • Presets, supports, and leads with safety-first mindset.

Field Service Technician III – Solar BESS

Summary:

The Field Service Technician III will assist senior Field Service Technicians with operating and maintaining utility scale solar facilities. This work includes preventative and corrective maintenance of on-site assets such as solar panels, trackers, and power inverters.

Requirements:
  • Takes direction from senior site personnel.
  • Sets positive example for and mentors junior technicians.
  • Troubleshoots low voltage DC power systems.
  • Troubleshoots low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage AC power systems.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on AC and DC power systems.
  • Identifies faulty or underperforming equipment.
  • Uses hand tools effectively.
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist in development of site operating plans.
  • Follows site safety plan and safe work practices.
  • Adheres to proper Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) practices and procedures.
  • Interfaces with project stakeholders (owners, equipment manufacturers, etc.).
  • Interfaces with project subcontractors.
  • Represents RES in professional manner to project stakeholders.
  • Responds to physical location within 1.5 hours for emergency calls identified as a priority by Operations Control Center.
  • Operates RES company vehicles, including trucks, in accordance with state and federal laws and RES policies.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Rotating on-call schedule for emergency response.
  • Presets, supports, and leads by example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
Safety:
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.
  • Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
  • Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
  • Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
Qualifications:
  • High school/GED General Education required.
  • Associates Degree related Technical Degree preferred.
  • Certification OSHA 10/30 preferred.
  • 4+ years or more related electrical maintenance experience required.
  • 2+ years or more Medium voltage electrical work experience required.
  • 1+ years or more High voltage electrical work experience preferred.
  • Intermediate
    • High voltage electrical power systems.
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Advanced
    • L ow, medium, high voltage electrical power systems, drawings and circuit theory.
    • OSHA regulations .
    • Hand tools .
    • Job hazard analysis (JHA) creation.
    • Electrical tools (multimeter, IR camera).
    • ANSI/NETA/MTS.
    • SCADA systems.
  • Ability to reside with a maximum commuting distance of 60 miles from the work site to ensure availability for on-site responsibilities.
  • Functional Competencies Include: Collaboration, Attention to Detail, Ethics & Integrity, Communication and Prioritization.
  • Domestic travel 5 -1 5 % required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Anticipated base salary range: $33.67 - $42.09

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
