Job summary

TDS Telecom is hiring a Field Service Technician II in Pittsboro, IN to install, troubleshoot, and maintain telecom systems, fiber/copper runs, and customer premises equipment. The role involves field work, face-to-face customer interaction, and opportunities to sell services.

The technician will operate in a fast-paced environment, travel as needed within the local area, and participate in on-call duties while upholding high customer-service standards. A sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• 1+ year basic technical telecommunications experience or equivalent military service or prior Field Service Technician experience with progression.
• 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, or switch training.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must follow the TDS attendance guidelines to meet business needs, including customer commitments.

Responsibilities

• Installs, troubleshoots, tests, splices, repairs, and maintains telephone equipment and general network equipment for customers.
• Installs, configures, maintains, and repairs PBX, Key Systems, Centrex, business systems, fiber terminals, POTS, ISDN, DSL, T-1s, and DS3s.
• Provides advanced troubleshooting and responds to trouble dispatches.
• Maintains and improves record systems and cross-connections, network elements and related data.
• Delivers excellent customer service, educates customers on TDS products and services, and identifies sales opportunities.
