Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician II to join a leading wireless communications organization in Chantilly, VA. The Field Service Technician II will install, program, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain two-way radio and wireless communications systems while supporting customer communication infrastructure.
Field Service Technician II Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain wireless communications equipment including UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz radio systems, dispatch consoles, microwave systems, wireless broadband devices, CCTV, and BDA/DAS systems.
- Program and manage radio codeplugs, including multi-zone, trunked, and 12+ channel configurations.
- Perform service and support on repeaters, antennas, duplexers, multicouplers, base stations, and related RF infrastructure.
- Utilize communications test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, service monitors, wattmeters, TDRs, FDRs, and multimeters to diagnose and resolve system issues.
- Recommend hardware and communications solutions that meet customer operational requirements and provide exceptional customer support.
Field Service Technician II Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening.
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent experience preferred.
- 3+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, programming, and maintaining two-way radio or wireless communications systems.
- Strong knowledge of RF theory, RF propagation, UHF, VHF, 800/900 MHz systems, repeaters, antennas, duplexers, multicouplers, and base station equipment.
- Experience programming radios and creating/editing radio codeplugs.
- Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience with Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, or similar communications equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles and IP-connected communications systems.
- Experience supporting or installing DAS/BDA systems preferred.
- Motorola, ETA, NICET, CET, OSHA, or other industry certifications are highly desirable
Field Service Technician II Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $37.00/hour, depending on experience
