Radio Communications Technician

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Radio Communications Technician to join a growing team supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of two-way radio communication systems and BDA/DAS infrastructure throughout Virginia. Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair two-way radio communication systems.
- Support Low Band, VHF/UHF, and 800/900 MHz analog and digital radio systems.
- Program, test, and diagnose radio equipment and communication networks.
- Install and maintain repeaters, base stations, antenna systems, microwave equipment, and battery backup systems.
- Perform installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of BDA/DAS systems.
- Install and maintain dispatch console equipment and related communications infrastructure.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Complete service reports and technical documentation.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.
- Mentor and train junior technicians as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with radio communications, RF technology, electronics, or related technical installations.
- Strong understanding of RF theory and communications systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and programming two-way radio equipment.
- Ability to use industry‑standard test equipment, including service monitors, analyzers, watt meters, and hand tools.
- Knowledge of repeaters, duplexers, multicouplers, antenna systems, and battery backup equipment.
- Basic networking and computer proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with BDA/DAS systems.
- FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL).
- ETA CET Certification or equivalent industry certification.
- Experience leading projects or mentoring technicians.
